PROFILE OF GHANA’S AMBASSADOR TO THE CZECH REPUBLIC

His Excellency Mr. James Komla Nyasembi, is Ghana’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic with concurrent accreditation to the Slovak Republic, Hungary, Romania, Republic of North Macedonia and Poland. He formally assumed duty on 20th December, 2021 following presentation of his Letters of Credence to H.E Miloš Zeman at Lány Chateau.

Ambassador James Komla Nyasembi is a career Diplomat with over twenty-five years of experience in Ghana’s Public Service. He worked at the Public Services Commission for ten years before joining the Foreign Service as a middle level officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration in 2002. He has served in a number of Bureaus in different capacities in the Foreign Ministry of Ghana. From August 2016 to September 2017, he served as the Director, Africa and Regional

Integration Bureau, Head of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) National Office at the Foreign Ministry and Head of the Policy Planning Monitoring and Evaluation Bureau . He was also a Member of the Audit Committee of the Ministry and also represented the Ministry on the Ghana Export Promotion Authority.

Between 2005 and 2009, Ambassador James Komla Nyasembi served as Minister-Counsellor /Economic and Political at the Ghana Embassy in Rome, Italy. He also held the positions of Minister-Counsellor/Deputy Head of Mission and Minister/Deputy Head of Mission at the Ghana Embassy in Malabo Equatorial Guinea, from 2012 to 2016. He was also Minister Plenipotentiary and Deputy Head of Mission at the Ghana Embassy in Havana, Cuba from 2018 to 2019 until his appointment as Ghana’s Consul-General in Lagos, Nigeria in February 2019.

Ambassador James K. Nyasembi, is a product of Awudome Secondary School (1979) and Bishop Herman College (1981) where he had his Ordinary and Advanced Level Education and holds a Bachelor’s and Master of Science Degrees in International Relations from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He has successfully pursued various courses at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) followed by courses in Public Service Reform (Singapore 1997), Partnership Programme for Diplomats (South Korea, 2004) and a course in Diplomatic Skills for Professionals in International Affairs (Thailand, 2011). He also participated in series of seminars and conferences both in Ghana and abroad.

Ambassador James Komla Nyasembi is an environmentalist and enjoys Jazz and African music. He is married with three (3) children .
